  4. This is an unpopular opinion, but I personally think Gary Ross did a much better job at portraying the Games than Francis Lawrence did. He truly captured how gritty the Games was and I prefer that he made you feel like you were in the Games yourself instead of a person in Panem watching it.

It would have been easy for these “games” to feel like an abstract concept (the first part of the movie has no real IMMEDIATE threat to the tributes) and yet the characters are facing near certain death.
