Vernon (French pronunciation:; Norman: Vernoun) is a commune in the French department of Eure, administrative region of Normandy, northern France. It lies on the banks of the river Seine , about midway between Paris and Rouen .

    • Vernon’s Streets. Vernon is just a small town and isn’t loaded with blockbuster monuments, but what it does have is a web of old streets with timber-framed houses from the 1100s up to the 1600s.
    • Le Vieux-Moulin and Château des Tourelles. The Old Mill is a 14th century timber house balanced between two piles belonging to the ruined medieval bridge that once connected Vernon with Vernonet.
    • Collégiale Notre-Dame de Vernon. Work began on this church in the 1000s but wouldn’t be completed for several hundred years. So, as is often the case, there’s a medley of romanesque and gothic design from different periods.
    • Maison du Temps Jadis. One of the prettiest buildings in the town, the corbelled Maison du Temps Jadis is the Tourist Office for the Eure department. Right next to the church, it should be your first destination after arriving in Vernon as you can get a map pointing out all of the significant buildings around the town.
    • Walk by Town Hall Square. Vernon was built right on the River Seine. Most river cruises dock right in the center of town, so you can disembark, head straight and reach the square of Hotel de Ville in just a couple minutes.
    • Take a Photo of the Old Mill. If you’re visiting Vernon on a river cruise, look in the opposite direction (towards the opposite riverbank) and you’ll spot the town’s #1 landmark: Le Vieux Moulin.
    • Explore the Collegiate Church. Facing the Town Hall is the city’s magnificent church. Collegiale Notre Dame was started in the 11th century and took centuries to finish.
    • See The House of Past Times. On the square corner, you’ll find Vernon’s Tourist Office – in perhaps the city’s most stately address. Le Temps Jadis, or the House of Past Times, is the oldest building in Vernon.
