Mar 18, 2024 · As part of OpenTopography’s mission to democratize access to high resolution topography and advance our understanding of Earth’s surface, vegetation, and the built environment, we are dedicated to developing and supporting educational uses of topographic data.
Datasets listed below are hosted by OpenTopography and are available in point cloud format for download and processing (e.g., creating custom DEMs). In some cases derived data products such as raster and Google Earth Image overlays are also available.
The Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) obtained elevation data on a near-global scale to generate the most complete high-resolution digital topographic database of Earth. SRTM consisted of a specially modified radar system that flew onboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour during an 11-day mission in February of 2000.
