Kranti empowers girls from Mumbai’s red-light areas to become agents of social change. Kranti (Revolution) educates and empowers trafficked girls, the daughters of sex workers, and otherwise socially marginalized girls (Revolutionaries) to become agents of social change within their communities.
Nov 10, 2014 · At 24, she started Kranti, an NGO that empowers survivors of trafficking and daughters of sex workers from Mumbai's red-light areas, where she lived and worked for a decade. In 2020, Robin moved to a mud hut at 13K feet in the Himalayas without any water, electricity or toilet.
Kranti is an NGO based in Mumbai which empowers girls from Mumbai’s red-light districts to become agents of social change. Founder Robin Chaurasiya was recently nominated for the Global Teachers’ Prize, for her unconventional teaching methods and coming up with her own curriculum.

WHAT MAKES KRANTI DIFFERENT FROM OTHER NGOs SERVING THIS COMMUNITY? At other NGOs, girls will come in at a young age, start school, finish 12th, and go on to get a job, get married, or go back to Kamathipura. At Kranti, we accept girls even if they’re 18-21 and have no idea what they want in life.
