  3. STRING Database — Content. STRING is a database of known and predicted protein-protein interactions. The interactions include direct (physical) and indirect (functional) associations; they stem from computational prediction, from knowledge transfer between organisms, and from interactions aggregated from other (primary) databases.

  4. The basic principle. In STRING, each protein-protein interaction is annotated with one or more 'scores'. Importantly, these scores do not indicate the strength or the specificity of the interaction. Instead, they are indicators of confidence, i.e. how likely STRING judges an interaction to be true, given the available evidence.

  5. Jan 8, 2021 · The STRING database aims to integrate all known and predicted associations between proteins, including both physical interactions as well as functional associations.

  6. STRING integrates and transfers protein interaction data from various sources for 1133 organisms. You can search by name or sequence and get quantitative scores for different types of associations.

  7. Jan 1, 2019 · The STRING database aims to collect, score and integrate all publicly available sources of protein–protein interaction information, and to complement these with computational predictions. Its goal is to achieve a comprehensive and objective global network, including direct (physical) as well as indirect (functional) interactions.
