    • Whole Milk. We probably don’t need to tell you what whole milk is, since this type of cow’s milk is what most of us consider to be, well, regular milk.
    • Nonfat Milk. Nonfat milk, also known as skimmed milk, is whole milk’s leaner cousin. In fact, this type of cow’s milk starts out whole and is then skimmed to remove all the fat (i.e., cream).
    • Raw Milk. Raw milk is cow’s milk that’s udderly (sorry, couldn’t resist) untouched. Yep, this type of milk is neither homogenized nor pasteurized, which is a fancy way of saying that it hasn’t been heated to kill any disease-causing pathogens that might be present.
    • Lactose-free milk. Lactose intolerance is a fairly common condition in which lactose—a naturally occurring sugar present in milk—triggers digestive symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, bloating and gas.
    • A2 Milk. A2 milk comes from cows that only produce a natural protein called A2, instead of regular milk which typically contains proteins A1 and A2. A2 milk is believed to be better digested/tolerated than cow milk which contains the A1 protein.
    • 1% milk (low-fat) Considered low-fat milk, 1% cow milk has less fat than 2% milk but more than skim/nonfat milk. Unless it’s raw, 1% milk is typically homogenized, pasteurized, and fortified with vitamins A and D.
    • 2% milk (reduced-fat) 2%/reduced-fat milk contains more fat than 1% milk but less fat than whole milk’s 3.5%. Like 1% milk, 2% milk is typically homogenized, pasteurized, and fortified with vitamins A and D (unless it’s raw).
    • Acidophilus Milk. Regular milk that has been enriched with Lactobacillus acidophilus (probiotic), a beneficial type of bacteria that makes up the healthy bacteria in your digestive tract.
    • Almond Milk. Almond milk is one of the newest favorites in the healthy-eating trend. You can make it at home by soaking, blending, and straining the white liquid from fresh almonds.
    • Soymilk. Chinese people have consumed soymilk since the 11 century BC, but this drink experienced revival with the healthy-eating trend. Modern manufacturers have found a way to produce soymilk that tastes more like cow’s milk.
    • Skim Milk. Skim milk is dairy milk with all the fat removed. The texture is slightly thinner than whole milk, and it contains 0 to 0.1 percent of fat.
    • Chocolate Milk. Chocolate milk is probably the most popular flavored milk in the world. The basic ingredients are chocolate and milk, so you can vary the components.
