The Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is a health scheme launched on April 12, 2005, specifically to provide financial assistance to pregnant women below the poverty line (BPL). The scheme aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality by promoting institutional delivery.
The age of registered pregnant mothers should not be less than 19 years. The benefit should be given to the beneficiaries up to two living children. For home delivery Rs. 500/- amount is to be given to the beneficiary. For Urban area, the beneficiary after delivery in the institution to be paid Rs. 600/- within 7 days.
