Jan 8, 2024 · The Pabna Revolt, also known as the Pabna Disturbances, was an uprising by Muslim peasants in the Pabna district of Bengal, India (present-day Bangladesh) against the exploitative practices of the local landlords and moneylenders in the late 19th century.
Pabna Peasant Uprising (1873–76) was a resistance movement by the peasants ("Ryots") against the lords of the lands in Bengal ("zamindars") in the Yusufshahi pargana (now the Sirajganj District, Bangladesh) in Pabna.

In 1873 peasants of Yusufshahi pargana of Pabna organized an agrarian league which raised funds to meet litigation expenses, held mass meetings to which villagers were called by the sounding of buffalo horns, drums and night cries passing from hamlet to hamlet, and also occasionally withheld rent.
Apr 9, 2022 · During the 1870s and early 1880s, agrarian unrest swept across much of East Bengal. The zamindars' efforts to increase rent beyond legal limits and prevent tenants from acquiring occupancy rights under Act of 1859 caused the unrest.
Pabna Movement (1870s-80s): In larger parts of Eastern Bengal , landlords forcefully collected rents and land taxes, often enhanced for the poor peasants. The peasants were also prevented from acquiring Occupancy Right under Act X of 1859.

The Pabna revolt originated inside the Yusufshahi pargana, which's now the Sirajganj district inside greater Pabna. The zamindars mechanically collected cash from the peasants with the valuable resource of the illegal way of a compelled levy, abwabs (cesses), extra suitable hire and so forth.
The immediate cause of the Pabna revolt was the enhancement of rent from Rs. 1 to Rs. 1-8 per bigha (one-third of an acre). What was remarkable about the struggle itself was that its strength lay in
