Kuppalli Venkatappa Puttappa (29 December 1904 – 11 November 1994), popularly known by his pen name Kuvempu // ⓘ, was an Indian poet, playwright, novelist and critic. He is widely regarded as the greatest Kannada poet of the 20th century.

Kuvempu, born as Kuppali Venkatappa Puttappa, was a prominent Kannada poet and a freedom fighter. He composed patriotic poems inspired by the leaders and authors of the Indian independence movement and was honoured as Rashtrakavi in 1964.
