Yelagiri ( Tamil: [jeːlaɡiɾi] ), also spelled Elagiri, is a hill station located in Tirupathur district of Tamil Nadu, India. Located at an altitude of 1,410 m (4,630 ft), it forms a part of the Eastern Ghats mountain range. The hills consist of 14 hamlets spread across an area of 72 km 2 (28 sq mi).

Jul 1, 2019 · Velavan Temple also called as Murugan Temple in Yelagiri is located on a small hill (kundru) which is surrounded by greenery on all the slides of the hill rock. This temple is very neatly and cleanly maintained. One can reach the shrine either by climbing (nearly fifty) steps or by driving on kaccha road till top of the hill.

We recently visited Yelagiri hills in one of the long weekends. For a day long trip it is a good option at approx 160 kms from Bangalore. The roads are excellent and a visual treat with lovely views on either side. The scenery keeps improving as you approach the foot of the hills.
