Oct 20, 2020 · Kristalina Georgieva has been serving as Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund since October 1, 2019. On April 12, 2024, the IMF’s Executive Board selected Ms. Georgieva to serve for a second five-year term starting on October 1, 2024.
Gita Gopinath (born 8 December 1971) is an Indian-American economist who has served as the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), since 21 January 2022. She had previously served as chief economist of the IMF between 2019 and 2022.
The day-to-day work of the IMF is overseen by its 24-member Executive Board, which represents the entire membership and supported by IMF staff. The Managing Director is the head of the IMF staff and Chair of the Executive Board.
