The Central Park Zoo is a 6.5-acre (2.6 ha) zoo located at the southeast corner of Central Park in New York City. It is part of an integrated system of four zoos and one aquarium managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
The zoo is open every day of the year and features three major biomes: the Tropic Zone, Temperate Territory, and the Polar Circle. From tropical birds, to snow leopards, grizzly bears, and one of the nation’s largest colonies of Antarctic penguins, there are animals to enjoy in every season.
Managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society, the Central Park Zoo is designed to recreate each animal’s natural environment. Located on the east side of Central Park between 63rd and 66th Streets, the Central Park Zoo offers a unique and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages.
One of its most prominent features is the sea lion pool and tank, located in the center courtyard, which is visible from outside of the Zoo. Other exhibits feature snow leopards, grizzly bears, penguins, and more.

Very cute and peaceful little zoo in the heart of Central Park. Unfortunately when we visited the lights in the penguin enclosure were broken so they were swimming in the dark and the bear enclosure was shut down for the day to have maintenance work done.
This small zoo, which gained fame for its part in the animated movie Madagascar, is home to penguins, snow leopards and lemurs. Feeding times in the sea lion (11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm) and penguin tanks (10:30am and 2:30pm) make for a rowdy spectacle. Check the website for times.

Penguin Feedings. When it’s time to eat, our gentoos, chinstraps, and king penguins come out of their dens or up from the deep and bob for fish. If we have a question, there’s always a friendly staffer or volunteer nearby to answer it.
