  3. Jun 12, 2020 · As for flat bottoms, they are very stable, depending on location of center of gravity. Take a square block of wood, like a 2x4, compared to a round 4" dowel. That 2x4 will always settle on one 4" face or another. The dowel will roll all over the place. Once you put a weighted keel on one side, the story changes a bit.
