A kid nowadays will describe a new flavour of ice cream as 'badass' I think you misunderstand peoples meaning if you think when they call someone 'badass' they mean "Someone who is awesome to an extreme level, thereby leveraging unquestionable authority." Bear in mind the term 'badass' could go out of fashion at anytime changing the meaning.

The word crazy is a later addition. Scanning Google Books I find a handful of references starting from the mid-60s where batshit is clearly just a variation on bullshit (nonsense, rubbish) - which meaning still turns up even in 2001, but it's relatively uncommon now.

I have heard the term "CFNM" being used in sexuality, does anybody know what the term means ? (Note: OP said "CNFM", but another user edited that to "CFNM".) Actually 'googling' didn't help at all.
The general term for these is euphemism. The use of a word or phrase to replace another with one that is considered less offensive or less vulgar than the word or phrase it replaces. Edit: just found another term: minced oath. I've never actually heard this term used, mind you, but still, it's a closer match than plain "euphemism".
I personally would show admiration for a badass in a formal setting by saying something like "Joe Bloggs is pretty indomitable" indomitable. impossible to defeat or discourage.
