National Law University (NLU), Delhi is a state university that was established in 2008 and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is approved by the Bar Council of India and is accredited with NAAC Grade A 3.6. According to NIRF 2023, NLU Delhi has been ranked in 2 nd position under the law category.
The primary objective of the University is to evolve and impart comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education that is socially relevant. Through this education, we aim to promote legal and ethical values and foster the rule of law and the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.
Eligibility for Admission. All candidates, other than those applying under the Foreign Nationals category, should appear for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and selection shall be solely on that basis. The Foreign National and OCI/PIO candidates are also required to apply online on the same portal.
The annual festival at National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) underwent changes in recent years, with 'Kairos' replaced by 'Eclipse' in 2022-23. In 2023-24, the Cultural Committee introduced 'Glitz Pendens,' merging legal terminology with cultural and literary festivities. The renaming bid farewell to 'Eclipse' but preserved its legacy. The 'Glitz Pendens' festival was held on March 7–9, 2024, featuring performances by comedian Aaditya Kulshreshtra aka Kullu, and Turban Band.
NLU Delhi Ph.D admission is offered based on an NLU Delhi entrance exam / AILET followed by the evaluation of research proposals and an interview. NLU Delhi ranking among other NLUs has been 2nd among the law institutes in India as per the NIRF 2023. NLU Delhi has been awarded an 'A' grade by NAAC. NLUD provides scholarships to deserving students.
