Hindalco embarked on its journey in 1958. Its first real contribution to the vision of an industrial India occurred four years later, when the late visionary GD Birla set up India's first integrated aluminium facility at Renukoot, in the eastern fringe of Uttar Pradesh, India. It was backed by a captive thermal power plant at Renusagar in 1967.
In India, Hindalco commissioned the Renukoot plant in Uttar Pradesh in 1962. The facility operates across the aluminium value chain from bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting to downstream rolling and extrusions.
On July 28, 2018, the Renukoot plant of Birla Carbon India turned 30. The plant which marked the Aditya Birla Group’s first foray into carbon black manufacturing in India, is symbolic, a beginning of a long journey towards innovation, sustainability and ultimately leadership in the carbon black industry in India.
