Apr 20, 2007 · As stated previously we use at Christmas, on Christmas Day. I should clarify that slightly. We do not say on Christmas if we are describing the time of an action. If you were to search for "on Christmas" on UK websites only you could find "Spotlight on Christmas", but that is a metaphorical spotlight shining on the Christmas period.

(Especially in a formal speech, etc.) I recommend just saying "Tomorrow is Christmas", as originally suggested! Last edited: Oct 13, 2023.

At Christmas is broader and talks about the holiday season. For example: Many people decorate their homes at Christmas time.

If you say option one, than it sounds like that you will see them at a Christmas celebration on or around Christmas day (Could be Christmas Eve or the weekend of or whatever) If you say option three, than it sounds like you will see them on Christmas day. Option two is not said.

Jul 17, 2018 · Senior Member. When talking about Dec 25, American people say "on Christmas" or (less often) "on Christmas Day", but in British English we only say "on Christmas Day". "At Easter" is the same as "In the Holy Week" (less often). "On Easter" is the same as "on Easter Sunday". For the other days of Easter we must specify: on Easter Monday, etc. .
Aug 9, 2013 · In a plural sense you can say "holiday season," referring to the Christmas holidays. But "holiday" as a noun has a singular sense (of a single day). I might add that the origin of this word is "holy+day" (where the "y" becomes an "i"), referring to religious holidays (public or bank holidays are a fairly new invention, compared to religious ones).
