Topeka (/ t ə ˈ p iː k ə / tə-PEE-kə) is the capital city of the U.S. state of Kansas and the seat of Shawnee County. It is along the Kansas River in the central part of Shawnee County, in northeast Kansas, in the Central United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 126,587.

May 3, 2023 · KS State Capitol building is a must-see! The history tour and dome tour were both awesome (although the dome tour is not for everyone due to the 296 steps up and down). You see the Senate and House chambers as well as the former Supreme Court room which is now used for committee meetings.
