Vishal Sikka (born May, 1967) is the founder and CEO of Vianai, former CTO of SAP AG, and former CEO of Infosys. He currently also serves on Oracle's board of directors, the supervisory board of the BMW Group [1] and as an advisor to the Stanford Institute of Human-Centered AI.

    • Sikka's salary. A sharp increase in Sikka's compensation early last year is said to be the biggest flash-point. The company says Sikka's cash compensation had actually went down and the increase has been primarily in RSUs (restricted stock units) and stock options, which are directly linked to incredibly steep goals.
    • Bansal's severance package. Former CFO Rajiv Bansal's large severance pay of Rs 17.4 crore is the cause of another major difference. The company says the employment contracts of key members of the executive team include a severance clause, and such clauses are guided by the complexity of the role as well as country-specific regulations.
    • Appointment of Punita Sinha. Punita Sinha, wife of Jayant Sinha who is Minister of State for Finance, was appointed an independent director last year.
    • Growth through acquisitions. Sikka has maintained that Indian IT's older businesses of application development & maintenance, infrastructure management and BPO are slowing and the margins are falling.
    • Infosys’ legendary founder NR Narayana Murthy claimed in an email to some of his advisors that he had been told by at least three independent directors of the company that Sikka was more chief technology officer (CTO) material than CEO material, Mint reported on Thursday.
    • Murthy has publicly lambasted Infosys in the past six to seven months for lapses in corporate governance (allegations the company has denied repeatedly).
    • A Hindustan Times report in February noted that Sikka had changed the way Infosys works: overhauling the organisational structure, increasing the thrust on artificial intelligence and setting the goal for 2020: achieve $20 billion in revenue at 30 per cent net margin (23 per cent) and revenue per employee of $80,000 ($49,000).
    • A Mint report in August noted that Infosys was in a Mexican stand-off between founder-promoters, led by Murthy and the company’s board (led by R Seshasayee) and management led by Sikka.
