Oct 18, 2023 · Hi, I just made an overpayment on my Halifax mortgage for the first time. At Nationwide it was very simply reduce the term, or reduce the monthly payment. By default Halifax does neither. I tried calling to ask what happens if I don't choose one of these methods and I could not really understand what they said, something about reduced interest..

That key rule seems pretty clear in that any money you've withdrawn from the current ISA will need to be replaced before any transfer takes place, if you want to retain your full £20k allowance for this tax year.

Does it even make much difference? I note it states you can make payments into the account by standing order or bank transfer each month, and that these payments must be by the 25th.
