Stuart Henry McPhail Hall FBA (3 February 1932 – 10 February 2014) was a Jamaican -born British Marxist sociologist, cultural theorist, and political activist.
Stuart Hall’s contribution to critical theory and to the study of politics, culture, media, race, diaspora and postcolonialism has been fundamental, hence his thought is difficult to summarise.
Stuart Hall sought to internationalise theoretical debates and to create Cultural Studies as interdisciplinary. We chart his theoretical journey through a detailed examination of a series of lectures delivered in 1983 and now published for the first time.
