The University of the West of Scotland (Scottish Gaelic: Oilthigh na h-Alba an Iar), formerly the University of Paisley, is a public university with four campuses in south-western Scotland, in the towns of Paisley, Blantyre, Dumfries and Ayr, as well as a campus in London, England.

In 1992 the college was granted university status and in 2007 it was renamed the University of the West of Scotland. The university has four campuses: Paisley, Lanarkshire, Dumfries and Ayr, spread across the west and southwest of Scotland, United Kingdom.
The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) was formed in August 2007 by the merging of the University of Paisley with Bell College. 16,000 students are currently enrolled and it is the largest modern university in Scotland, spread across four campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton and Paisley.
