Nov 9, 2023 · Eduardo De Filippo was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Birmingham (1977) and La Sapienza University in Rome (1980). In 1973, he was made a Knight of the Grand Cross in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, and in 1981, President Sandro Pertini, using his constitutional prerogatives, appointed him a senator for life.
