Jean Tirole (born 9 August 1953) is a French economist who is currently a professor of economics at Toulouse 1 Capitole University. He focuses on industrial organization, game theory, banking and finance, and psychology.
Jean Tirole is honorary chairman of the Foundation JJ Laffont-Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) and of the Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse (IAST), and scientific director of TSE-Partnership. He is also affiliated with MIT, where he holds a visiting position, and the Institut de France.
