Arun Kumar Sharma (1924 – 2017), popularly known as AKS, was an Indian cytogeneticist, cell biologist, cytochemist and a former Sir Rashbehary Ghose Professor and Head of the Department of Botany at the University of Kolkata, College of Science and Technology.

Feb 29, 2024 · Renowned archaeologist Padmashree Dr Arun Kumar Sharma passed away late night on Wednesday at his residence in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur city at the age of 90. Sharma was senior-most team member which excavated the Ram Janmabhoomi Ayodhya site on order of Allahabad High Court and had submitted a report that a temple was demolished to make a mosque.
