Manavati Bai, also spelled Manvati Bai, (13 May 1573 – 8 April 1619), better known by her title, Jagat Gosain (lit. ' Saint of the World ' ), was the second wife and the empress consort of the fourth Mughal emperor Jahangir and the mother of his successor, Shah Jahan .
Aug 16, 2018 · Jahangir was the fourth Mughal emperor and one of the most prominent rulers of the great empire. He ruled from 1605 until his death in 1627. He had a bitter relationship with his father and tried to revolt against Akbar several times, but the father and son later reconciled.

On the death of Jagat Gosain in Akbarabad on 8 April 1619, he is recorded to be inconsolable by Jahangir and mourned for 21 days. For these three weeks of the mourning period, he attended no public meetings and subsisted on simple vegetarian meals.

There are different stories about Jahangir's mother. Some call her Jodhabai, but some sources insist her name was Hirakunwari, and Jodhabai was in fact the other name of Jahangir's second wife, Jagat Gosain, the princess of Jodhpur and the mother of Khurram (later Emperor Shah Jahan).
