Senator Frahm was elected to the Kansas Senate in 1988. She served from the 1989 session through the '94 session. She was the Majority Leader in '93 and '94, when she was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas in 1994.
The state's second woman to served as U.S. Senator, Sheila Frahm, was born in Colby, Kansas, on March 22, 1945. She served on the Kansas State Board of Education, in the state legislature, and as lieutenant governor of Kansas before accepting appointment to the U.S. Senate upon the resignation of Senator Bob Dole, on June 11, 1996.
