Lead singer Bunkley and jazz trumpeter James Bostek formed the group in Detroit in 1996, hiring guitarist Duke Kingins, drummer Geoff Kinde, trombone player Randy “ Ginger ” Sly, upright bassist Shawn Scaggs, and tenor saxophonist Eric Schabo to complete the lineup.
