Dr Charulatha Mani is an acclaimed singer of Karnatik Music, the Classical music of Southern India. Following a successful Chennai-based career of over two decades, in Karnatik performance, raga research, thematic Isai Payanam curation, and film playback singing, it was in 2016 that Charulatha Mani took up her PhD research at the prestigious Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia.

When I hear about child prodigy famous artists being able to identify ragas at the age of 3 and I sometimes have difficulty in even identifying Shanmugapriya when the alapana starts, it is somewhat discouraging.
