John Mayhew (27 March 1947 – 26 March 2009) was an English musician, best known for his brief tenure as the drummer of the progressive rock band Genesis. He replaced the band's previous drummer, John Silver , in August 1969, and was himself replaced in August 1970 by Phil Collins .
John Mayhew was a drummer who joined Genesis in 1969 and contributed to their second album, Trespass, before leaving in 1970. He died in 2009 after a long career in music and furniture making.

Trespass is the second studio album by the English rock band Genesis. It was released on 23 October 1970 by Charisma Records, and is their last album with original guitarist Anthony Phillips and their only album with drummer John Mayhew . Genesis turned professional in autumn 1969, and began to rehearse intensely and play live shows.
