After Adam injures his hand at work, he goes to visit Jerri Jo, whose parents are away, and they make love. Soon she begins to contemplate marriage, and Mr. Hopper offers to build them a house. Disturbed at the prospect of settling down, Adam spends a night on the town with Harvey, who gets drunk, loses all of their money in a crap game, and after accusing the other players of cheating, starts a fist fight.
