The Bhagavad Gita ( IPA: [ˌbʱɐɡɐʋɐd ˈɡiːtɑː], Sanskrit: भगवद्गीता, romanized :bhagavad-gītā, lit. 'God's Song'), [a] often referred to as the Gita ( IAST: gītā ), is a 700-verse Hindu scripture, which is part of the epic Mahabharata. The Bhagavad Gita is dated to the second half of the first millennium BCE.
The Bhagavad Gita is not content with providing a lofty philosophical understanding; it also describes clear-cut techniques for implementing its spiritual precepts for everyday life. These techniques of applying the science of spirituality in our lives are termed “Yog.”
