Nov 18, 2013 · In real life, Philomena’s experiences in Tipperary turned her away from the Church. She still believes in a “hereafter” and continues to pray “like every Irish mother”, but doesn’t go to confession or communion. It’s not quite like that in Philomena the movie though.
