Ronald "Ronnie" Kray (24 October 1933 – 17 March 1995) and Reginald "Reggie" Kray (24 October 1933 – 1 October 2000) were English organised crime figures, and identical twin brothers from Haggerston, who were prominent from the late 1950s until their arrest in 1968.

    • Reggie was the oldest twin. The Kray twins were born in Hoxton, London, in 1933. Their parents were Charles Kray and Violet Lee, who were London Eastenders of Irish and Romani heritage respectively.
    • Reggie Kray almost became a professional boxer. Both boys were strong boxers during their teenage years. The sport was popular in the East End amongst working-class men, and the Krays were encouraged to take it up by their grandfather, Jimmy ‘Cannonball’ Lee.
    • Reggie had a deadly signature punch. Reggie made use of his boxing abilities in the criminal world, and he apparently developed a tried and tested method for breaking someone’s jaw with a single punch.
    • The Kray twins were held in the Tower of London. In 1952, not yet at the height of their power, the Kray twins had been enrolled for National Service with the Royal Fusiliers.
    • The Early Years Of The Kray Twins. Ronnie and Reggie Kray were born within ten minutes of each other on Oct. 24, 1933, in Hoxton, London. From a young age, the twins had both a taste for violence and an apparently insatiable desire to become somebody.
    • Ronnie And Reggie Kray: Kings Of Gangland London. As up-and-coming gangsters, the Kray brothers had a particular role model: the stylish “boss of Britain’s underworld,” Billy Hill, who according to the Guardian controlled Soho in the 1950s.
    • Rulers Of Swinging Sixties London. With Ronnie out of prison and their gang established, the Kray twins became criminal celebrities who owned around 30 popular nightclubs, bars, and restaurants.
