Dedh Ishqiya. Two poachers Khalujaan and his nephew Babban get away with stealing a prized royal necklace. During police chase, they get separated and meet months later at a palace, where Khalujaan is competing with Urdu poets to win the heart of a widowed heiress, Begum Para. Meanwhile, Babban warms up to Begum's aide, Muniya.
Dedh Ishqiya is intense, beautiful, witty, cruel - with charm interspersed everywhere in between. It's subtly, without the tiniest exaggeration, bold too. Above all, it's a Mushaira-e-Khaas in a timeless setting, beautifully fluidic just like the 'masterful' Kathak that liberates the beautiful, kagzi Begum Para, captivating us in the process.
