On the first night of Passover, after the seder meal, Jews traditionally recite a poem, a piyyut, called “It Happened at Midnight” ( וַיְהִי בַחֲצִי הַלַיְלָה Vayehi Ba-ḥatzi Ha-laylah). It was written in the 6th century by Yannai, who lived in Eretz Yisrael.
