Jan 2, 2023 · Good crime film. Almost a Film Noir if it was in black and white. Tough, fast moving story of revenge, The cast are all good. Robert Ryan's second last film. It even has Elisha Cook Jr, Mari Windsor and Timothy Cary in it. Recommended

“The Outfit” is a classy action picture, very well directed and acted, about a gangster’s revenge on the mob for the death of his brother. An outline of the plot would make it sound pretty routine, but what makes the picture superior is its richness of detail.
A man called Ed Macklin is murdered at home by two hitmen from the mobster organization The Outfit. Soon his brother Earl Macklin is released from prison and while in a motel with his girlfriend Bett Harrow, is shot by a hitman.
When petty crook Earl Macklin (Robert Duvall) is released from prison to find that his brother was murdered over a botched bank heist, he has one thing on his mind -- revenge.
