At a presentation on Monday morning at Melbourne’s Town Hall, the 72-year-old former Hey Hey it’s Saturday host dedicated the award to his late friend and fellow TV star John Blackman, who died last month aged 76. “It is an honour. I’m a born and bred Victorian. You think about the highs and lows in life and this is a high for me at the end of a rather solemn week,” Somers said.
