Liviu Ciulei (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈlivju tʃjuˈlej]; 7 July 1923 – 24 October 2011) was a Romanian theater and film director, film writer, actor, architect, educator, costume and set designer.

Liviu Ciulei (Ioan Liviu, [11] n. 7 iulie 1923, București, România – d. 25 octombrie 2011, München, Germania) a fost regizor, actor, scenograf, arhitect și profesor universitar român. A fost artist emerit (ante 1960).
Liviu Ciulei was a Romanian director, actor and stage designer who won the Cannes Film Festival award for Forest of the Hanged (1965). He worked in Romania and abroad, and died in 2011 in Munich.
