The Yale School of Medicine is the medical school at Yale University, a private research university in New Haven, Connecticut. It was founded in 1810 as the Medical Institution of Yale College and formally opened in 1813. The primary teaching hospital for the school is Yale New Haven Hospital.

As the clinical practice for the Yale School of Medicine, Yale Medicine’s more than 1,500 doctors play multiple roles in advancing the practice of medicine – from treating and caring for patients, to developing new cures through innovative research, to educating future doctors.
Certificate in Global Medicine. Students in the M.D. Program at the School of Medicine are candidates for the degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). Students receiving competitive fifth-year research fellowships are eligible for the combined degree M.D./M.H.S. (Master of Health Science).
You can earn undergraduate degrees at Yale College, master’s or doctoral degrees at the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, and specialized degrees at our 13 professional schools. There are also many non-degree programs that allow individuals to study or pursue research without matriculating.

The MD/MHS Program. In addition to these MD programs, Yale also offers a number of dual-degree programs in conjunction with other schools at Yale.
