    Film & TV School Wales builds on over 50 years of film education at the University of South Wales, formerly at the Newport Film School. Our Graduates include the Oscar-winning Asif Kapadia (Senna, Amy), Phil John (Downton Abbey, Being Human), and hundreds of others working at the highest levels in film and TV around the world.

    We want to celebrate the phenomenal TV and filmmaking talent of young people at schools and colleges.   3. Mar 29, 2024 · The Newport Film School was set up in 1966 by Principal John Wright who invited the renowned documentary film maker John Grierson to become its Patron. Grierson's editorial assistant Harley Jones became the first Lecturer in Cinematography setting up the course with five students and one Bolex camera.
