Feb 13, 2024 · St. Stephen’s College is the oldest college in Delhi and was established in 1881 by Rev. Samuel Scott Allnutt. In 1922, it came under the affiliation of Delhi University, previously it was affiliated to Calcutta University and Punjab University.
St. Stephen’s College has many ‘firsts’ to its credit. It was the first College in India with a large proportion of Englishmen on its teaching staff to appoint an Indian, Sushil Kumar Rudra, as Principal, as far back as 1906.
