Edwin Janss Gregson (August 7, 1938 – June 4, 2000) [1] was an American Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. He was the trainer of Gato Del Sol who won the 1982 Kentucky Derby . He died on June 4, 2000, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. [2] .

The Edwin J. Gregson Foundation (EJGF) has established a scholarship program to encourage students to stay in school, to succeed academically, and to continue their education after high school. The program will focus on the children of eligible families and will encourage these children to focus on a college preparatory curriculum.
During the past year, the Foundation made a commitment to increase industry involvement by expanding its Board of Directors to include non-trainer members who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for backstretch workers and their family members.
