The Seven Who Were Hanged (Russian: Рассказ о семи повешенных) is a 1908 novella by Russian author Leonid Andreyev. The book is believed to have influenced the assassins of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914.

Seven Who Were Hanged tells the tale of seven convicted criminals in Tsarist Russia. There are five terrorists, all in their early 20’s, there is a kind of retarded Estonian servant who killed his master and tried to rape his wife and finally someone who is called a gypsy and identifies itself as a true criminal.
