Petar Petrov Zhekov (Bulgarian: Петър Петров Жеков, 10 October 1944 – 18 February 2023) was a Bulgarian footballer, widely regarded as one of the best forwards in the history of the Bulgarian football. He won the silver medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics.

Feb 18, 2023 · Legendary CSKA and national football team goal scorer Petar Zhekov has died at the age of 78. He remains in history as the first Bulgarian to win The European Golden Shoe award for the best scorer in Europe in 1969 with 36 goals. He also won the Silver Shoe in 1970 and the Bronze Shoe in 1973.

Petar Zhekov was one of best forwards in the history of football in Bulgaria. During his career Zhekov played in 333 league matches scoring 253 goals. Zhekov began his career with one season at Dimitrovgrad in 1962–63, playing 25 matches and scoring eight goals.
