Ramesh Krishnan (born 5 June 1961) is an Indian tennis coach and former professional tennis player. As a junior player in the late 1970s, he won the singles titles at both, Wimbledon and the French Open.
Feb 8, 2021 · In 1989, Ramesh Krishnan became the first Indian to beat a World No. 1 at a Grand Slam by defeating Mats Wilander in the second round of the Australian Open. The unseeded Indian used his volleys and lobs to outsmart the Swede and reach the quarter-finals.
Son of former great Ramanathan Krishnan, who reached the semifinals at Wimbledon in 1960 and 1961 (the year Ramesh was born). The 1979 Wimbledon and U.S. Open junior champion.
