Joseph John Cole (born 8 November 1981) is an English football coach and former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder or winger. He is regarded by some commentators as one of the most talented English players of his generation and one of the most technically gifted English players of all time.
The oldest of five boys, Joe Cole was born around 1988 or 1989 and grew up in Kingston upon Thames in London. His younger brother is actor Finn Cole, who starred alongside him in Peaky Blinders. He attended Hollyfield Secondary School in Surbiton.
