Ebnoics (or African American Vernacular English) is a variety (dialect, ethnolect and sociolect) of American English, most commonly spoken today by urban working-class and largely bi-dialectal middle-class African Americans. Non-linguists sometimes call it Ebonics.

This paper attempts to explicate an idiomatic praxis in early black thought that theorizes anti-black logics of signification. I call this meta linguistic theory and praxis Black Rhetoric, and argue that it is a paradigmatic form of idiomatic violence in modernity.
