David James Stratton AM (born 1939) is an English-Australian film critic and historian. He has also worked as a journalist, interviewer, educator, television personality, and producer. His career as a film critic, writer, and educator in Australia spanned 57 years, until his retirement in December 2023.

DAVID Stratton wrote his first movie review at the age of seven. With the benefit of hindsight, his subject — The Overlanders (1946), an Australian Western starring Chips Rafferty — proved to an exceptionally fitting choice. Stratton, who was born in Wiltshire, England, travelled to Australia in 1963 for what was supposed to be a short stay.
