Patrick "Paddy" Lyster is a South African actor who portrays Capt. Benjamin Hornigold on Black Sails.
For many years, Lyster worked as a safari guide throughout Africa. He worked at the Mala Mala Game Reserve, as well as Clive Walker's Walking Safaris on the Okavango Delta and in Botswana. He also ran his own safari camp, called "Patrick's", on the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve.
He began acting later in life after joining the NAPAC Opera Company, and has since appeared in many roles in films and television throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Some of his more notable roles include Johan in The Bone Snatcher (2003), Hooks in Slipstream (2005), Edwards in Supernova (2005), Roger Sharpe in Primeval (2007), Major Pieter Jordaan in Goodbye Bafana (2007), and Mr. Pienaar in Invictus (2009).
More recently, Lyster has starred as Warden Parks in Death Race 2 (2010), Martin Chandler in Sniper: Reloaded (2011), and as Xavier in Interview with a Hitman (2012). He also had a minor role in 2012's Dredd.
Lyster resides in Cape Town, South Africa.
